The holidays are full of family, food, and fun. It can be so busy that it is easy to let other things slide, like your Invisalign treatment. But you have always wanted straighter teeth and are excited about the progress you have seen so far! With the flurry of activity during this special season, you want to make sure you stick with your Invisalign plan. Here are four tips from your dentist in Frisco to help you stay on track toward your dream smile.

Tip #1: Meet the Recommended Wear Time Every Day

In order to achieve your final smile goal, it is important to wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours per day. Since the hustle and bustle of the holiday season can get in the way of your commitment, it’s a good idea to set an alarm as a reminder. Missing the mark of the recommended wear time can hinder your treatment and extend your plan’s timeline. It can also add discomfort and pain throughout the process.

Tip #2: Brush & Floss After Eating

The holiday season always comes along with its fair share of delicious foods, from stuffing to pecan pie. It can be easy to neglect your oral health when indulging in meals and snacks more frequently. If you are not consistent with your dental habits, you could end up discoloring your aligners and increase the buildup of plaque on your teeth. The best way to avoid these complications and preserve your pearly whites is to brush and floss after eating and before placing your aligners back in your mouth.

Tip #3: Always Carry Their Case

While Invisalign clear aligners are made of durable plastic, they can still become damaged or stained if you wear them while eating. For this reason, you’ll need to take them off before enjoying a meal or drinking anything other than water. Be sure not to place them on a table or inside a napkin to avoid harming or accidentally throwing them away. Instead, rinse them off and store them in their protective case. This ensures they will never get lost and risk interfering with your Invisalign progress!

Tip #4: Prioritize Your Dental Appointments

Although this time of the year can be full of travel and visits with loved ones, it’s important to keep up with your set appointments with your dentist. You don’t want to miss receiving your next set of clear aligners! Additionally, you can also book your next dental checkup and cleaning. Your dentist can address any developing issues they find, and you’ll be able to show off a brighter smile afterward.

Invisalign provides a discreet, removable option to straighten your teeth, which is particularly helpful while celebrating during the holidays. With these helpful tips, you can easily keep your treatment on track during the festivities!
